Henry V with Smith Street Stage

CULTURE FIX UK

“McLean Peterson’s cross-cast Henry beautifully exemplifies the various moods and attitudes of a character at the height of his power…. The famous set piece of the play, the St. Crispin’s Day speech before the Battle of Agincourt, in Peterson’s portrayal feels less like a Machiavellian ruse and more like what we might imagine is the old Hal lurking just below the surface, friend and companion to all. “

“As the sole performer on stage, Peterson is excellent. She commands our attention and under the sharp direction of Dart manages to deliver Gershman's impressive satirical narrative.”

Blog critics

“Leading the consistently good cast is Peterson’s stalwart and mesmerizing Henry. Whether motivating his forces with inspiring speechifying, visiting with his soldiers in disguise, bewailing the loss of trust when a plot against him is uncovered, or engaging with audience members by eye contact, he compels attention.”

THE GUARDIAN

“a solid solo performance from McLean Peterson”

“[Peterson] is sharp as Ivanka, fluent at the flicks between icy glares – seeming like she might strip the skin off your face if she thought it would improve her complexion – and succulent smiles.”

Film Threat

“Nyland and Peterson have exceptional chemistry, presenting themselves as old friends who are bound by fond memories. …Alana, specifically, played by a stellar Peterson, is endowed with inconceivable guilt. … Watching Alana’s confident façade crack is genuinely heartbreaking and well-constructed, proving to be the strongest arc in the film.”

“Led by McLean Peterson’s moving performance as the Princess of France, the grief that intrudes into the lovers’ happy celebration and promised unions at the end of the play is real and raw.”

CONVENTION 2019 REVIEW

CONVENTION at Irondale

EDGE MEDIA NETWORK

“The entire cast deserves major kudos for pulling off such a carefully timed endeavor. So many of them make a great impression, but I'll give special praise to Kathleen Littlefield as conflicted convention co-chair Samuel D. Jackson, and McLean Peterson as the casually corrupt Mayor of Chicago, Edward Kelly. Many of the male politicians in "Convention" are played by very talented younger actresses, which has the interesting effect of highlighting the characters' personality quirks. With their size and age stripped away, we better see who these important men in suits really are.
