McLean moved from Chicago to New York City to study acting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with Atlantic Acting School. She received her BFA in 2015 and has been doing what she loves ever since.

While training, McLean had the pleasure of working with directors Kristan Seemel, Mike Donahue, and Alicia House on masterpieces like Black ComedyAs You Like It and Spring Awakening. Within a year of graduating NYU, McLean filmed her first feature, and was cast in her first National Tour: Ivy & Bean the Musical. Last April, she closed The Pirate La Dee Da at Atlantic Theater Company which won the Off Broadway Alliance award for Best Family Show. McLean has participated in the developments of several new plays/musicals with Zack Zadek, Tina Landau, Jacob Rice, Nate Weida, and Wesley Zurick in the past year, and is looking forward to more.

Her greatest current inspirations are new socks, her sisters, and micro poodles.
